Assistant Manager (Student Recruitment)

Job Purpose

The Assistant Manager (AM) is responsible for leading and achieving student recruitment outcomes while supervising a team of Education Counsellors. This role emphasizes both individual student recruitment and progression, as well as effective team leadership, motivation, and supervision. The AM acts as a bridge between management and the Sales team, ensuring strategic objectives are achieved and operational excellence is maintained.

Key Responsibilities:

Student Recruitment & Progression

• Actively participate in sales activities such as Open Days, education fairs, exhibitions, roadshows, school visits, and recruitment campaigns to attract new students.
• Promote University programmes to prospective students and parents through persuasive and professional communication.
• Drive new student recruitment by counselling and converting potential students into enrollments.
• Encourage and facilitate the progression of current students into higher-level programmes.
• Consistently meet individual sales targets while contributing to departmental objectives.
• Provide accurate and up-to-date information about programmes, admissions, and career pathways.

• Undertake any additional tasks assigned by the reporting line manager.
• Execute duties in line with the Sales Department’s policies and systems.

Sales & Recruitment Target

• Lead, manage, and execute student recruitment activities to achieve the University’s Centre and Group new enrollment (NE) targets.
• Develop and implement localized sales strategies to expand market reach and increase applications.
• Monitor performance metrics such as applications, conversions, and leads, ensuring timely follow-ups.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with agents, local councils, and community organizations to generate leads.

Team Management & Supervision

• Supervise daily operations of Education Counsellors to maintain productivity and adherence to SOPs.
• Coach, mentor, and motivate the team to meet individual and collective recruitment targets.
• Track KPIs (calls, leads, conversion rates, progression rates) and provide constructive performance feedback.
• Serve as the first point of contact for resolving student or team-related issues.
• Cultivate a positive and supportive work environment that fosters engagement and retention.

• Provide regular performance updates and market insights to the Regional Manager.

Operations & Reporting

• Ensure accurate reporting of sales pipelines, conversions, and market trends to the Regional Sales Manager.
• Manage local sales budgets, resources, and related activities efficiently.
• Collaborate with academic and operations teams to ensure a smooth transition from applicant to student.

• High ethical standards in student counselling and recruitment practices.
• Flexibility and adaptability to evolving market conditions and institutional priorities.

Qualifications & Experience
• Possess at least a Bachelor’s degree or higher qualification.
• Minimum 3–5 years of experience in student recruitment, sales, or education counselling.
• Previous experience in supervising or leading a team is preferred.
• Demonstrated success in meeting sales or recruitment goals.
• Experience in higher education or a service-based industry is an advantage.
